Pre-Kindergarten Newsletter - November, 2007
The month of October was a celebration of fall in the Pre-K. The children have decorated their room with colorful leaves and carefully constructed apples and pumpkins. Please visit anytime to view the beautiful fall foliage! With the help of pumpkin seeds, apples and different types of gourds, we continue to introduce math skills by sorting, counting and patterning. Our October recipes (great for measuring skills) included applesauce, apple crisp and roasted pumpkin seeds. The children have also enjoyed identifying different types of leaves and signs of fall at the science table. The month culminated with our fun-filled Pumpkin Fair on Oct.29th and 30th. The Pre-School and Pre-K would like to thank our wonderful kindergarten who did a fabulous job running all games and distributing prizes.
Thanksgiving
We have begun the month of November by introducing “American Indian picture writing” as a preface to a unit on the First Thanksgiving. Hopefully your Pre-kers will soon be talking about the Wampanoag tribe and Pilgrims as you celebrate your Thanksgiving Day with family and friends! Our science table will be filled with “maize” for measuring and our cooking unit will include a special Thanksgiving recipe.
Thanks to all of the parents who were able to attend the Pre-K Parent Night on Oct. 17. If you were unable to attend, please feel free to visit our classroom at any time!
Happenings
The children are enjoying our great new music program with Miss Lori. They look forward to her arrival each week as she combines rhythm and movement in her program. In addition to our own classroom library, the Pre-K also visits the school library every Thursday and Friday.
Fire Safety
