Kindergarten Newsletter - December, 2007
In December we will be discussing how we celebrate with family and friends throughout the year. We know that this is an exciting time for your children and we will try to remind them that it is very important to think about what they can give to others not just what others can give to them. We will be making something special for you so please - don’t peek, but let us surprise you.
A Warm Welcome
We'd like to introduce the newest member of our class, Will McCarthy. Some of you may know Will from Pre-K. Please join us in making him feel welcome!
Holiday Baking
We will be doing some baking and decorating both in our regular class and with Madame Chester. We have a special treat that we like to make that is a holiday staple in French homes. Your child may bring a little home to you to have a taste. Look for it on Tuesday, December 18th.
Charitable Project
We hope that you approve of our charitable project. We look forward to talking to the children about the various jobs they did at home to “earn” their money. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
Reading Corner
The author of the month is James Marshall who has written such books as "Fox and His Friends", "George and Martha" and "Swine Lake". We have finished The Magic Tree House book called "Thanksgiving on Thursday". We are currently reading "Chocolate Fever" by Robert Kimmel Smith.
Family Feast
We look forward to our Family Feast on Friday, December 21st. This is a wonderful time for a little bit of socializing with our class and families. We hope that many of you will be able to attend although we discuss with the children that parents are not always able to adjust their work schedules to come to school in the middle of the day. Please remember that all family members are invited - parents, grandparents, siblings, aunts, uncles or even close friends. See you at 11:45!
Mrs. Jain
Friday, December 21st will be the last day that Mrs. Jain is with us. We have enjoyed having her as part of our class and wish her every success as she continues with her teacher training here in the United States.
Holidays
We realize that December is a very exciting and tiring time for you and your children. We will try to make school a quiet, safe place for them to be. We will talk only a little about individual holidays as we know they will be immersed in the festivities outside of school. We will try to keep their routine as consistent as possible. Of course we will answer any questions they have and will welcome any discussions they wish to have or experiences they wish to share with us.
