Happy Hollow School History and Founder's Statement
Founder's Statement
In 1954 land was purchased on Oaks Road in Framingham for the purpose of building a private
residence and pre-school. In 1956 construction was completed, and the school was licensed
by the Town of Framingham as a kindergarten and nursery school. From that small beginning
many years ago the philosophy of the founder and director has always been to provide a warm,
nurturing environment, staffed by warm caring professionals, in which the learning of young
children would be encouraged and stimulated, but never pressured. The natural curiosity
and uniqueness of each child would be encouraged and respected.
His/her first steps away from home and parents would be welcomed into a learning environment
created and organized to develop the child's potential - physically, emotionally, intellectually,
and socially. That philosophy has never changed.
There have been necessary changes in staffing,
physical space, equipment, but Happy Hollow has always stood for high standards in the Metro West
area and is proud of its reputation. Happy Hollow provides a kindergarten environment utilizing
the entire first floor of its building, offering a library, an arts and instructional room, a room
for block play, dramatic play, manipulatives, etc., staffed by a kindergarten team of certified,
dedicated professionals. This is known as the Upper School, as differentiated from the Lower
School which houses the pre-kindergarten and pre-school classrooms. No longer does the building
serve as a residence.
I am proud of my school, and I want each and everyone of my parents to know that I appreciate their
confidence in entrusting their most treasured possessions to me and my staff. Your trust is deeply
appreciated and valued. My doors and ears are always open to you in any concerns affecting our children.

The Kingbury Legacy Continues
After fifty one years of leading Happy Hollow School to its respected, renowned and cherished place
in the Massachusetts community, Mrs. Kingbury set out to insure her school and legacy continues to
benefit the children of our community for years to come. In the 2007-2008 school year, Mrs. Kingbury
will be working together with Ann Laquerre, whose daughter is a proud graduate of Happy Hollow School's preschool and kindergarten programs,
to pass the Happy Hollow School torch onto the next generation. Ann shares Mrs.
Kingsbury's love of learning and inspiring the next generation and has a long history of supporting
education and independent schools in New England. Ann holds a Master's Degree and a J.D. Happy Hollow School has been renovated, its equipment and technology updated, but the curriculum, philosophy and atmosphere Mrs. Kingsbury and her experienced faculty has created will be nutured and protected to insure her legacy and her extraordinarily positive impact on children will endure for another fifty years.
